Dossin Great Lakes Museum is on Belle Isle in Detroit. We had a good visit there yesterday, in lovely winter weather.

Moving. Now that NBCi is putting a fat, lurid banner ad above my homepage, I have started to look for a nicer host. After some comparison shopping, I chose ReadyHosting, who provide a good deal of storage space for $99 per year. Since our cable modem just dropped from 40 pounds a month to 20 pounds a month, total outlay on computing hasn't risen. Right?

You won't have to change any URLs: green-ward.com will simply slide over to ReadyHosting when I can get the technical bits right. At the moment, I'm waiting for Network Solutions, who are very slow--and some woud say not such good value for money as a registrar ($35 per year). I'll transfer my domain registration to one of the newer registrars next year.

Santa draws a crowd at the SSTL company outing. We saw the pantomime "Cinderella" in Woking. It was excellent, except that there was no principal boy!

Kilimanjaro, here I come. As a result of a chance e-mail exchange with old friends, I have siezed an opportunity to attempt Kilimanjaro in February 2001. I will be on an expedition organised by Alpine Ascents, with my oldest climbing buddy, Rick Palm. The best Kilimanjaro site I've found is Carl's. He has an especially good collection of pictures. For those of you still Christmas shopping, one thing I'll certainly need is about 200 Mbytes more "film" for my digital camera--I'd feel guilty having the porters carry a laptop! For further gift ideas, see the Alpine Ascents gear list.

You just can't stop 'em. Figo gave birth on Sunday night to two fine young guinea pigs. We think that Spit might be in the family way, too. Gosh!

November's slideshow is posted, and I also think that I have solved the Netscape compatibility problem. You NN4 users should now be able to access everything here.
